Tech Death – Colonopsosy – Putrid Manifestation Ov Isis

Putrid Manifestation Ov Isis  Produced – Recorded – Mixed – Mastered https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHiHRz1Bz7I Download the WAV version: Download the multi tracks + my session:   Recording Notes: Guitars were recorded with a Schecter C-7 Hellraiser.  We put new strings on it and recorded it into a Countryman 85 DI which was fed into my True Precision 8 preamp.  We then re-amped it through both a ENGL Powerball 2 and a Peavey 6505.  Both were through a Port City 2×12 with V30s.  We just used an SM57 angled slightly up from the cone. The 5150 tracks were higher gain, but mixed in about -11db from the Powerball tracks. Bass was just an Ibanez BTB 5 string fed into the 85 and True Pre. It was then melodyned heavily to keep the pitch super consistant. Drums are Superior Drumer + Metal Machine.  Toms are all the Ludwig ones from Metal Machine. Vocals were all recorded into an SM7B through a Mobile...

Feared Mixing Competition Entry

This is my feared mixing competition entry in WAV form for people who can’t stand YouTube compression just like I can’t.     Tutorial/Walk-through:...

My Bleeding Heart Lies Bleeding – You Die (I Cry)

My Bleeding Heart Lies Bleeding – You Die (I Cry) Produced – Recorded – Mixed – Mastered Download Raw Tracks: Tutorials, Backstory and Recording Notes: My friend Michael Markie and I were recording some stuff for one of my classes when It dawned on us that we could have fun writing ridiculous songs, since between the two of us we could effectively play/write all the parts.  We decided it’d be fun to write the most stereotypical, whiny metalcore song we could muster, and this is the result. At first it was just for fun, but then I though about how people would probably enjoy mixing the tracks themselves.  Long story short, I made tutorials on how I mixed it and am letting anyone give it a shot. In the future, we plan on doing more generic stereotypes of each metal genre, both to promote myself as an engineer, and to give back to the music community via mixing practice and fun songs.  I’ll make tutorials for each one to show how the mix techniques change from genre to genre and song to song depending on equipment, arrangement etc. Recording Notes: All DIs were recorded straight into my True Precision 8 Preamp using the Hi-z inputs —> Avid HD I/O 32bit floating point 44.1khz Guitar was recorded with an Ibanez RG series, with an EMG 81 in the bridge. Bass was an Ibanez BTB series 5 string. Drum were all SSD4 Midi with the following instrumentation: Kick 10, Snare 11, Quik Toms 1-4 (More details in the tutorials) I used Lecto for the amp sim and LeCab with Kaltallens IRs...

Blackwater – Full Album (Work In Progress)

Blackwater – Full Length (Work In Progress) Official Facebook Recorded – Produced – (Mixed) – (Mastered)   Recording Notes: Drums:  Drums were tracked at Harvey Productions in Burbank, CA.  Pictures can be found below. Guitars: We used an Agile 7 string and a Schecter C1 Classic I believe.  Guitar DIs were recorded through a Millenia Preamp and simultaneously fed through a single recto verb and port city 2×12 where it was recorded with an SM57 through a 610 preamp.  The reamped tones we took there aren’t necessarily going on the album but they sound good so it’s likely they will. Bass:  Bass DI through the 710 preamp.  Still waiting on vox to do reamps. Vox:  Still in the production phase, more on that once they’re recorded.  ...
Survivalist – Destructress

Survivalist – Destructress

Survivalist – Destructress Official Band Camp Recorded – Produced – Mixed – Mastered Listen to the album: Recording Notes: Recorded at my parents place in La Canada, CA ReAmps done at Harvey Productions in Burbank, CA http://harveyproductions.com/ Tracking Notes: General Notes:  Everything was recorded live with no click.  Drums were laid down first to  a cue of the gtr playing live with him.  That being said, there’s also zero editing.  Pretty good if you ask me! Drums:  Drums were a live recording of my Pearl Reference kit, recorded in the same space as in my videos.  In the Drum mix, I kept the toms 100% natural.  The snare is a combination of the live mic and a slate sample.  The kick drums hits are all replaced.  Although they are,  however, replaced with a sample I took of my kick during tracking.  I used the dual element kick drum mic in the kick.  I believe I used my pearl reference snare for this.  Mics were the same as my videos except I had a MD421 on the floor tom on this album. Guitars: We recorded two channels of an Eclipse LTD with an 81 in the bridge into my TRUE 8 Preamp/DI.  That got reamped into a 51510->PortCity 2×12 and a Dual Rec->PortCity 2×12.  I can’t remember if we ended up choosing 1 channel of each or dual 5150. Bass: Just did a DI and split it up into a Low and HI track.  We wanted it to be a little bit more of a present element in the mix than usual and I think we got that. Vox: SM7B...
